 SKIP THE STRAW SCARSDALE

About Skip The Straw
Sky

WHAT IS THE "SKIP THE STRAW SCARSDALE" CAMPAIGN?

“Skip the Straw Scarsdale” is a waste reduction initiative to reduce the use of single-use, disposable plastics that contribute to our waste stream and are a source of environmental pollution.

Food establishments and businesses can participate by agreeing to give out straws only upon request.

Residents can participate by declining the use of a straw, by frequenting businesses that have taken the Skip the Straw Scarsdale pledge, and by taking the pledge for themselves!

THE PROBLEM: SINGLE-USE DISPOSABLE PLASTICS

Americans use and discard over 500 million straws a day.  Straws however are largely unnecessary - most people don’t need a straw in order to consume a beverage!

Many restaurants automatically serve water and other beverages with a plastic straw. That straw is then tossed away after one brief use.

The Skip the Straw Scarsdale initiative seeks to change this type of use-and-dispose lifestyle.

THE SOLUTION: PLEDGE TO SKIP THE STRAW

Businesses can now participate in the Skip the Straw Scarsdale campaign by pledging to give out straws either only on request or not at all.

In this way food establishments can save money, help the environment and be celebrated as green business leaders in the community.

Please join your neighbors and Scarsdale businesses by pledging below to Skip the Straw Scarsdale!
